Nominating Committee
Report:
Kate Foster is working on
finding nominees. Some people have
expressed interest. She is trying to
find people who would best fit into the various roles.
President’s Report:
March 2nd staff
luncheon: Potato Bar was a success!
Yearbook:
Julie met with
Tracy Morgan, a BSD sub who can work with kids after school as a club advisor
and is proficient with computer graphics.
They made a plan for getting the yearbook completed.
There will be a
cover design contest, with a deadline of April 29. These will be displayed at the Evening of the
Arts, April 30.
The need for
student photographers was advertised.
Students from each grade will take pictures of staff and students.
Two Sehome
students who are on yearbook staff, and happen to be Fairhaven alumni, have
volunteered to help.
Julie will get
bids for printing.
The general consensus was that we don’t want to charge for the yearbook. Susan thought the PSTA could afford to pay for it, based on last year’s cost of $3400. $1500 was budgeted this year; we would need to make up the rest.
Chalk Art: Date is set
for May 26th with a back-up date of May 27th in case of
rain. Doreen Earl will head the
committee. She will inventory the chalk
that we have from previous years to see what is needed.
School Social: This was a 6th
grade sponsored event. $150 was raised
for the Humane Society by selling popcorn and root beer floats. Stacy Hurley was sick; the 6th
grade parents, led by Kate Foster and Katy Mandell, rallied and made it happen.
Fifth Grade Parent Open
House: May 27th, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. There will be cookies and coffee, tee shirts
for sale, and we will have sign-up sheets available for next year’s committees
and events.
CUBS Budget (6th grade orientation): Wednesday, Sept.
2 - Beth Bacon asked for a $500 budget plus tee shirts. Susan said that she should not buy anything
for this event until the beginning of the budget year, which is July 1, 2009.
Bike and Walk to School
Day (May 15): Budget for Celebration Station $100 – Can we
take $100 from “assemblies” line item and use for Celebration Station? Jennifer will ask Dierdre.
Motion: To add $100 to Walk and Roll Wednesdays line item,
and rename it as Walk and Roll Wednesdays/ Celebration Stations (unanimous).
Eighth Grade event: No one has
volunteered yet; some have expressed interest.
June 15th: Field
Day (picnic)
