In 1915, the Larrabee heirs and Mr.Gates gave to the state as a park site twenty acres of land, this land included a salt water beach. It was named Larabee State Park in honor of Mr.c. x. Larabee. In 1937, the Larabee and Gates interests gave another large parcel; Mr.swen larson and several other people gave smaller portions of land. Now the state owns almost two thousand acres in Larabee state park, including Lost and Fragrance Lake and several fine beaches on salt water.
Shortly after the new road foreman took over Mr.Cavanaugh. Mr.Gates was kind enough to let him build a tiny home near the road garage. In return for this favor the Foreman did him a favor. He watched over the park until a full time caretaker could be hired.
