The Opening Of The Fairhaven Hotel
The Opening Of The Fairhaven Hotel
"The Formal Opening of The Fairhaven
Hotel. Auspicious Event Signals
Commencement of Grandeur for the
Focal City."
"A hundred years from today people will remember and still marvel at The Fairhaven, sprung like the fabled Phoenix, pristine and glorious from the ashes of the forest primeval. The Fairhaven is now a symbol of the Focal City, the City of Fortune, the Queen City, the Magic City, the city destined to shelter travellers from far and near arriving at 'the Western Terminus of the Great Northern Railway . . . absolutely fixed at Fairhaven.' As Colonel Visscher said exactly six months ago, Fairhaven 'in the matter of culture . . . will be the Boston of the West.' And so it is this evening as the cultured and distinguished citizens of Fairhaven meet at the resplendent formalities of the opening the hotel."
